Valentine’s Day Makeup Tutorial

Hello, everyone!

It’s been a little while since I have posted on here. Basically, my whole life completely turned upside down so I took some time out to figure out what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be. Anyway, things are now looking up and I’m starting back at my old job so here’s to 2019. As Valentine’s Day is coming up, I thought I’d share a makeup look that’s perfect for a date night with a partner or your gal pals.

For this look, I want my skin to be very glowy and dewy so I made sure to prime my skin with my all-time favourite moisturiser – Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. This moisturiser is really thick so it’s perfect for keeping your skin hydrated at this time of year and I find that it helps keep my foundation in place. For that extra glow, I used the Mac Prep + Prime spray in Pinklite as the specks of pink glitter are stunning and just help to make your skin look that little bit healthier.

Moving onto the base, I chose the RevolutionPro foundation drops in F3 as I find this gives such a healthy and dewy finish. If you prefer a more full coverage finish then this foundation probably won’t be to your taste as it has more of a medium finish. However, I think that it looks just like your skin but better and it feels really natural to wear. To conceal, I used the Collecting Lasting Perfection concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes.

Valentine’s Day is all about those beautiful pink and red shades so I decided to use the MUA Undress your Skin Liquid Glow in Pink Shimmer for a subtle highlight on my cheekbones. A liquid highlighter will look a lot more natural on your skin when you apply it before powder so I always make sure to powder my skin after applying a liquid highlighter. My go-to powder at the moment is the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder as it honestly hides all of my pores and makes my skin look so smooth and natural. I just apply this all over my face with the Laura Mercier Glow Powder brush for the perfect finish.

Now that the base is finished, let’s move onto brows. Everyone has their own preference for brow products but I personally like to use a pencil and then use a gel to add some definition. Lately, I have been loving the Mac Eye Brows Styler in Spiked as I find that the thin tip allows me to mimic brow hairs and create a really natural looking brow. I started by filling in the tail of my brow and then I used a spoolie to drag the product throughout the front of my brow. I find that this stops my brows from looking too harsh and block-like. To complete my brows, I lightly brushed through using the NYX  Brow Mascara in Brunette. I find that a brow gel helps set them in place and also makes them look more natural.

To finish off my skin, I used my all-time favourite bronzer –  Milani Baked Bronzer in the shade Glow – this makes your skin look so radiant and healthy. I then used the Mac Extra Dimension Skinfinish highlighter in the shade Show Gold as it is a beautiful pinky-gold colour, making it the perfect choice for Valentine’s Day. Lastly, I used the Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore for a gorgeous pop of colour on the apples of my cheeks. I find that this blush really complements the highlighter and gives you a really healthy looking glow.

All that’s left to do is my eyes. As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to go for a pinky red colour as Valentine’s Day is the theme. I decided to use my Beauty Bay Origin palette as it features lots of gorgeous pink shades. Before going in with eyeshadow, I primed my lids with the Urban Decay Eye Primer in Eden and then set my lids with the Base shade in column 5 of the Origin palette. I mostly followed column 5 to create this look so I ran the Transition shade through my crease to warm up my eye and to also prevent harsh lines. Next up I used the Crease shade to add some definition and get a nice pop of colour. I also used a tiny bit of the Liner shade in the outer-v of my eye to make this look a little smokey – perfect for a date night.

For the shimmer shades, I actually used the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea III palette as the shimmers are so stunning and pigmented. I used a mixture of the shades Rays and Malibu to cover my lids. Honestly, if you’ve never tried Tarte eyeshadows then you really need to. They are all so creamy and pigmented and blend so well. Also, this eyeshadow look is really versatile as you can dress it up with eyeliner and false lashes or you could make it more casual with a little bit of mascara. I decided to finish off this look with the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner and the Eylure Volume 101 lashes. I’ll be honest, I haven’t worn fake eyelashes in a while so I did have some trouble getting them to stick down in my inner corners so please ignore that.

To complete this Valentine’s Day look, I chose the Rimmel Stay Satin Liquid Lipstick in the shade 200 Sike as it is a gorgeous nude colour that looks like your natural lip colour, but better. This lipstick is perfect for Valentine’s Day as it is very long-lasting and doesn’t dry out of your lips. So here is my makeup look for Valentine’s Day. What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?
