Hello, everyone! Over the past few years, I feel like everyone has changed how they do their eyebrows. I remember when I was at school and the over-plucked, overarched brow was in style, however now a thicker, more natural looking brow is more popular. There are so many different products that you can use, depending on the shape that you want to achieve. There’s pomades, powders, pencils, and gels to choose from so it can be hard to know what to go for if you’re new to doing your brows.
If you know brows then you’ll know that Benefit are ahead of their game but their products can be pretty expensive so I thought I’d look at the best drugstore brow products. At the moment, I use NYX products for my brows as I know they are always such good quality but there are other drugstore brands that also make great products. It’s great because it means you don’t have to spend lots of money to have decent brows.
My go-to brow product is a pencil as it is more precise and I can use strokes that look like individual hairs. The best one that I have used from the drugstore is the NYX Micro Brow Pencil for £10. The product feels so creamy and just glides onto your skin but looks so natural. I would recommend this for someone with thicker brows who wants to add a bit more definition and hairs. If you have quite sparse or lights brows, I would suggest maybe a pomade or a thicker pencil such as the Soap and Glory Archery Brow Sculpting Crayon (£10) as it won’t run out as quickly.
Another option for brows is a pomade, and they seem to be quite popular. I like to use a pomade when I want a really sharp, carved out brow as they can look really lovely, especially for a special event when you want your brows to look extra good. The only thing I don’t necessarily like about pomades is that they can make your brows look quite blocky so you need to make sure you go in gently and use the right brush. One of the best drugstore pomades is definitely the Revolution Pomade as it only costs £6, it’s so easy to apply, is smudge-proof, and looks flawless.
I have to admit that I don’t generally gravitate towards a brow powder but I know that a lot of people seem to love them. The good thing about powders is that you can really tailor it to how you prefer your brows to look. You can create a really natural, fluffy brow or you can build it up to quite a bold brow. A really great brow powder is the L’Oreal Artist Genius Kit for £9.99, and this includes a powder and then a wax to set it in place in addition to mini tweezers and a little brush with a spoolie.
Finally, we have the gel. I love to use a coloured gel to set my brows in place and to also give them a bit of definition. You can use a gel to really lift the hairs to make them look super fluffy. The best drugstore gel that I have used is NYX Tinted Brow Mascara, for £7. Honestly, this gel will keep your brows in place ALL DAY! They’ll also give you a really soft look so you don’t need to worry about having blocky brows. If you want a really natural look, you can also use a tinted gel on its own and that will give you a more defined look without appearing as if you’ve made any effort at all.
If you’re new to doing your brows, or you want to experiment, I’d recommend trying out lots of different products and seeing what works best for you. Try out different styles and different types of brow products and I’m sure you’ll find something you love.
