Hello, everyone! I don’t know about you but I have seen the Beauty Bay Colour Theory palettes everywhere and I have been dying to try them. I originally ordered the Origin palette when they first came out last month but Hermes majorly messed up and lost it so I had to wait for them to come back in stock to order it again.
For those of you that don’t know, Beauty Bay is a website that sells loads beauty products from various brands (both drugstore and high-end) such as Jeffree Star Cosmetics, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Makeup Revolution.
At the end of last month, Beauty Bay released their own eyeshadow palettes as part of a collection called Colour Theory. As soon as I saw these palettes, I knew I needed at least one of them in my life as they looked so beautiful. If you haven’t seen them yet, each palette has 42 different shades and they are vegan and cruelty-free and cost £25 each which I think is an absolute bargain and is actually quite affordable.
I tried not to watch/read too many tutorials or reviews of this palette as I wanted to create my own opinion of it. I have to say, I was really intrigued by this palette as it has columns to help you create an eyeshadow look in an almost colour-by-numbers style. There are 7 columns with 6 colours in each and each colour has an instruction next to it so you know whether it’s a transitional shade, base shade, or a pop of colour. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is not the best at eyeshadow (including myself) as it basically tells you what to do and you don’t have to worry about matching colours together. I know for myself, I often lack inspiration when it comes to eyeshadow so I love this idea. Of course, you don’t have to follow the columns but I do think it’s a really interesting idea, especially if you want to try something new but you’re not sure how to.
First of all, I just want to say how beautiful the packaging is. When the package arrived, it came in a gorgeous bag from Beauty Bay and the actual palette came in the most beautiful pinky pearlescent box, I was almost sad to throw it away. The palette is matte black with the word Origin embossed on the front with the Beauty Bay logo. I also love how the B from the Beauty Bay logo is engraved into all of the shadows. This palette definitely has a more expensive feel so it and I kind of just want to get all of the shades onto my face but I know that won’t be a good look.
So I decided to just try one of the palettes as I can’t really afford all three and I didn’t want to spend loads of money if I didn’t like it. I chose the Origin palette as it is full of warm and neutral colours which is what I tend to gravitate towards. Anyway, I have been using this palette for a few days now and I have to say that all of the colours are so pigmented in swatches and when you apply them onto your lids. When you swatch the shades, they feel so soft and buttery so you know they won’t dry your eyelids or clump up.
When applying the shadows to your lids, they blend out so easily and they work so well together. Sometimes with eyeshadows, they can go patchy or they can blend into nothing but this is definitely not the case with this palette. Another thing that I noticed is that there is hardly any fallout which is rare for a palette that is so pigmented. I don’t usually mind too much when a palette does have fallout but of course, it is definitely a bonus when it doesn’t. Today, I used column one and this is the look that I got out of it. I really like this look, especially for this time of year. I know it might be a bit heavy for some people but you could definitely tone this down by having a lighter shimmer over the top.
This palette is definitely my new favourite and I can guarantee that it will be something I reach for daily. It is so affordable and so easy to use that I would recommend it to anyone, whether you’re an eyeshadow novice or a qualified MUA. I love that you can use this palette for an everyday natural look or you can use it for a heavier look. I think I may have to invest in the other two palettes at some point.
Have you tried any of the Colour Theory palettes?
Wow, it’s such a pretty palette!😍

Oh I had heard about these palettes but I didn’t know about the fact that the shades are all organised into “where/how to use” that’s a cool idea!

Whoa! That’s one huge palette! 42 shades will really make a lot of makeup looks. Could have been perfect if it would have shades of green and blue.

I like the idea that they tell you which colors go with which, as I am not an expert in eye shadows either. It’s a great palette with so many different shades but I’m afraid it doesn’t really suit my skin type. I am more of a cold colors type of girl. 🙂
