Soft Glam for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and whether you’re a lover or a loather, this makeup look can be for everyone. The season of love is the perfect time to play around with makeup, especially bright pinks and reds so I thought I’d create a soft glam look that you can wear on a date or whether you’re just chilling at home with Netflix and fancy making yourself look good.

The first thing that I focused on was my base makeup and eyebrows. Before starting, I cleansed my face and applied moisturiser to ensure that my face is clean and hydrated. I decided to use my trusty YSL Touche Éclat foundation to give my skin a dewy finish which you can’t entirely tell from this photo. I love that this foundation is a more medium finish, giving my skin more room to breathe and giving a much more natural look. I then went in with my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer to hide my dark circles and any blemishes. Finally, for my base, I used the Maybelline Master Fix loose powder to brighten my under eyes and set my makeup in place. For my eyebrows, I just used the Benefit Goof Proof brow pencil in shade 3 to fill in any sparse areas and I then went in with the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in the shade chocolate to set my brows in place.

This picture comes up more orange than I actually looked but I then used the Benefit Hoola Bronzer to warm up my face and to make my cheekbones pop. Hoola is my all-time favourite bronzer, I always end up going back to it and being impressed with how gorgeous it is. I feel like everyone loves this bronzer as it just suits so many people Once my face had a bit more colour, I used the Cindy-Lou Maniser blush by The Balm. I have recently fallen in love with this blush because it has such a gorgeous shimmer to it and it the perfect shade of pink. It’s not too bright that you have a pink streak across your face but looks like a natural flush of colour. Finally, I used the Soph x Makeup Revolution highlighter palette to a bright highlight across my cheeks and on my brow bones. I love this palette so much as it is so cheap and there are so many great choices to choose from.

My favourite part of this look is the eyes. I decided to use the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette as they orangey/red colours really make my blue eyes pop as well as being perfect colours for a Valentine’s Day look. I started off by using chaser (light nude matte) and Sauced (soft terra-cotta matte) in my crease as a transitional colour. I then went on to use He Devil (burnt red matte) and En Fuego (burgundy matte) in my outer corner to add definition and create more of a smoky look. I finished off this look with Lumbre (copper shimmer w/gold pearl shift) across my lid to add a bit of shimmer. I love how this look came out but I am a massive fan of the Naked Heat palette so this is no surprise. For eyeliner, I tested the BADgal Bang eyeliner pencil and I wasn’t a huge fan but I think it worked for this look, I especially love how black the colour is. The thing that I was most excited about was that I finally got to try the new Benefit BADgal Bang Mascara and I am shook! I cannot comprehend how amazing this mascara is but I will write a full review so I won’t go into too much detail at the moment. What I will say is that it makes your lashes look so voluminous and long, it’s like Roller Lash and They’re Real! in one mascara.

No look is complete without lipstick so I finished off the look with my Mac Velvet Teddy for a soft matte nude. You can’t go wrong with a nude lipstick and I feel that this colour complements the eyes. This is how the look turned out overall, let me know what you think. Do you have any plans for Valentine’s Day?
