January Favourites

So January is over and I don’t know whether it’s because I haven’t had a job or what but it seems to have gone so slowly. I’m not wishing my life away by wanting time to go quicker but I am waiting to start my new job in February and I am dreaming of warmer days. Nevertheless, some fun things have happened this month such as spending a few days in Brussels with Daniel and finding out that I have been accepted into Nottingham Trent to study a postgraduate degree. Now that we are finally approaching February, here are my January favourites.

My first favourite is a coat that I got from my mum for Christmas. This is a longline coat from Next and I am obsessed. I have worn this pretty much everywhere. The colours are perfect and go so well with so many outfits and it is so warm so you don’t need to wear as many layers underneath. I know that this coat will last me for years to come. At first, I was concerned that I couldn’t pull this off as I’m not the tallest and it’s a pretty long coat but I think it’s quite versatile so anyone could wear it in a way to fit their style. My scarf and hat are from Jasper Conran and were also gifts that I got for Christmas.

If you follow me on Twitter then this will probably come as no surprise to you that The Greatest Showman is my next favourite (check out my review). I have listened to the soundtrack pretty much every day since I watched this film in the cinema, I am obsessed. I may actually pre-order this so I can get it on DVD as soon as it comes out. If you haven’t seen this film yet, I recommend going to see it ASAP because it is such a feel-good, fun film with a brilliant soundtrack.

In the January sales, I made a couple of purchases from The Body Shop that I am so happy with. I bought the Raspberry Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub and the Piña Colada one for £7.50, they smell incredible. The tubs are both 250ml meaning that they will both last for a while. I use these before I shave and it leaves my skin feeling super soft. Unfortunately, they don’t sell these online anymore but you can still get the British Rose version or it may be worth going in store to see whether they have any sale stock left over. The last thing I bought in the sale was the Frosted Plum shower gel and it smells so good. Again, this isn’t online anymore, however, there are loads of others that you can try such as the British Rose to match the body scrub.

Next up is a Netflix and Channel 4 collaboration – The End of the F***ing World. This show is a British dark comedy-drama and follows 17-year-old James who believes he is a psychopath. He kills animals as a hobby and decides he wants to try killing a human. He settles on Alyssa, a mouthy, rebellious classmate with issues of her own.hey embark on a road trip across England, and begin to develop a relationship after a series of mishaps. This show is so funny and so entertaining, I’m actually thinking of watching it again. All of the episodes are available on All4 and Netflix although I am not too sure which countries this is available to outside of the UK.

My next favourite of January 2018 is the Stila All Day Waterproof eyeliner. So I accidentally bought this in Alloy which is grey and I thought I was going to hate this product but turns that I love it. I love that it’s softer than jet black and looks great with a natural makeup look. My favourite thing about this eyeliner is that it lasts so long without smudging or rubbing off in the inner corners with is something that I often struggle with.

Finally, my final favourite of January 2018 is another present that I got for Christmas and it is the Mac peach highlighter from the Snowball Holiday Collection. This highlighter is a gorgeous peachy colour with gold reflects and looks so beautiful when it hits the sun. I love using this over the top of a liquid highlighter for maximum glow. I honestly have worn this pretty much every day and I cannot get enough of it, it is so beautiful. Can we also just take a minute to appreciate how beautiful the packaging is.

  1. I have started watching The end of the f*** world but I didn’t manage to finish it due to my driving exam. It is very intriguing, I have to admit. I can’t wait to get back on it and see what happens next. I’ve only seen about 3 episodes.

  2. The End of the ****ing World is surprisingly the only thing that makes me keep my Netflix from non-subscription. It’s like a mix of everything great and cool!

  4. I love that despite not starting your job yet, you’ve kept your self busy. Keeps your mind and clear when you’re not dealing with those things. And congratulations on your job this month. I love your January favourites especially the movie. Will have to see where it’s showing close to me😗😗

  5. First – gonna check out that scrub! It sounds amazing. I watched The End of the F***ing World and it left me scratching my head! That ending – right? I didn’t quite know what to make of that. I’ve discovered making Indian food in my Instant Pot this month – and that’s been exciting!

  7. I know what you mean! January lasted ages, I was sick for most of it and it sucked pretty bad. LOL. The Greatest Showman did not hit the theatre here, but I’m soooo looking forward to its TV version. I’m a huge FAN of Hugh Jackman.

  8. January was the slowest month! I feel like January is always slow. After my birthday, I just want January to be over. I’m obsessed with MAC peach glow!
