Blogmas Day 7!
The festive season is so exciting for all of us beauty-enthusiasts as it gives us a great excuse to dabble in new makeup and try out new looks. It’s also the perfect reason to throw on the glitter and highlight to the extreme. I thought I’d create a look that is very versatile so you can wear it every day or you can glam it up for a party.
Make sure you start off with a clean face. I like to use the Clean & Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion for a quick clean and refresh. I’ll then start off with my base. For this, use whatever you are most comfortable with. I like to use the YSL Touche Éclat foundation as it melts into my skin, looking radiant and flawless. My favourite concealer to use is the Collection Lasting Perfection in fair as the consistency is very thick and great for brightening under your eyes. To make sure that my makeup lasts all day, I will finish off my base by powdering my face with the NYX Mineral Finishing Powder.
Once the base is all done, I like to get started on my eyeshadow. As it’s Christmas, I thought I’d create a red/gold look. For this look, I used the Urban Decay Naked palette along with the Naked Heat palette. I started off by using Sauced in the Naked Heat palette through my crease to give me the warmth that I am looking for. To give me the festive red, I used a mixture of He Devil and Cayenne and swept this across my crease with a B04 Real Techniques brush to ensure that there are no harsh lines.
Once I had finished the red part of this look, I moved on to the Naked palette where I packed on the shade Half Baked onto my eyelid for a festive finish. I then took a bit of Smog to create a golden gradient across my lid. To make these shadows more pigmented, I sprayed my brush with setting spray.
Christmas is all about the glitter and is the perfect excuse to cover your whole face in highlighter. When I am feeling a bit extra, I will use a cream highlighter as well as a powder highlighter. As for cream highlighter, my favourite is Watts Up! by benefit, this is a bit more subtle than powder highlighters but looks just as beautiful. This highlighter is a gorgeous champagne colour and looks beautiful on any skin tone. My all-time favourite powder highlighter is the Mary Lou Manizer by theBalm, it is absolutely stunning. If you are pale like me and want a blinding highlighter, this is the one and you will not be disappointed. I like to sweep this across my cheekbones, down my nose and on my brow bones as this lifts your face in all the right places.
What’s Christmas without a bold lip? I don’t think that I suit red lips so I prefer to go for a berry colour. This lipstick is the L’Oreal colour riche in 430. I cannot get over how long this lipstick lasts. Honestly, this lasts ALL DAY!! I love how creamy this lipstick is as it makes it so easy to apply and feels nice on your lips. Considering this is a matte lipstick, it doesn’t feel drying at all so I would recommend these lipsticks to anyone. I have to say, L’Oreal is probably my favourite drugstore brand. If you want your lipstick to last longer, I would recommend using a lipliner all over your lips as this will hold onto the lipstick and keep it in place. Using a lip liner can also give your lips a fuller effect, perfect for going out. If you prefer a more natural look, a nude lipstick will suffice.
Have you got any Christmas parties to go to this year?

I feel like that red lipstick really completes the whole look. Also setting spray is so important. I just started using it and really notice how well it works.

I love how the red lipstick reflects the colour that is so often associated with Christmas! ❤
I'm not much of a party-goer myself, and it seems I'll have to leave out the only (pre-)Christmas party I planned to go to, but I prefer to be with family anyway.

Yay for bold red lips for the holidays. If you can’t have red lips this time of the year, then when, right? 🙂
