Makeup is used to enhance your natural features, regardless, sometimes it is fun to experiment with bright lipsticks and sparkly eyeshadows. However, this post is all about getting that ‘no makeup’ makeup look. You may need to wear less makeup for work or school or maybe you just want to give your skin a break from wearing as much so here is how I achieve a ‘no makeup’ look.
1. Prep the skin.
To keep my skin glowing, I often use a moisturiser and a tinted primer as I feel that this ensures that my skin looks great all day as well as looking very natural. My favourite primer for this is the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow. It is pretty pricey but it is so worth it as it lasts so long and looks amazing on the skin. Another thing that I love about this primer is that there is a slight shimmer to it, making it look so beautiful.
2. Add a light coverage
If my skin is particularly bad (which it is at the moment), I will opt for a foundation with just enough coverage to cover the blemishes but one that will also look pretty natural on the skin. My go-to foundation for this is the L’Oreal True Match foundation. This is one of my favourite foundations and it comes at a great price.
Unfortunately, I often have dark circles under my eyes so I will always use concealer to cover it up. If I am wanting a thicker concealer, I will go with the Collection Lasting Perfection or if I want something a bit lighter, I will reach for the Rimmel Wake Me Up. I have found that using a damp Beauty Blender actually makes my makeup look a lot more like it is a part of my skin rather than just sitting on the top so perhaps try using a sponge rather than a brush to apply your base. I will then finish off with a powder to ensure that everything stays in place, my go-to is the Natural Collection Matte Pressed Powder.
3. Brows
For more natural brows, I avoid too much product by sticking to a tinted brow mascara. Although I would typically go to Benefit for any brow products, I have been enjoying the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara as it adds colour and makes my brows look naturally fuller.
4. Eyes
If I am looking for a more natural look, I will often choose brown mascara over black as my lashes will still look voluminous but without the harsh colour. I will always go for the Benefit They’re Real! mascara in brown. However, I have just run out of this mascara so I have chosen to go for my YSL Babydoll mascara in black to add length. This is my all-time favourite mascara as it makes your eyelashes look so long without being clumpy. I believe you can also get this mascara in brown, blue or purple.
Sometimes I will choose to wear a subtle eyeshadow to make my eyes. My all-time favourite eyeshadow is the Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Colour in the shade Young Adonis. This is probably the most expensive makeup item that I own but I absolutely adore it. I bought it for my 21st birthday and I think it’s important to have that one makeup item that is a bit more special than the rest to make you feel good whenever you wear it. This product has both a cream and a powder eyeshadow and they look so beautiful together. I think it’s nice to have a bit of shimmer in a natural look so that you
If you are one to wear eyeliner every day, try using a brown eyeshadow to line your eyes as this will open your eyes up to make them appear bigger.
5. Cheeks
I always use a light bronzer to stop my skin from looking flat. I often struggle with finding bronzers that are light enough for me (pale problems) but the Natural Collection Bronzing Powder is so light that it looks like you’re wearing nothing at all but with the benefits of wearing bronzer. You may choose to wear a tiny bit of blush to add a bit of colour to your cheeks but I usually skip this step as I will run out of time in the morning.
6. Lips
A tinted lip balm is a great choice for a ‘no makeup’ look as not only will your lips feel moisturised, but you will also have a slight colour. My favourite tinted balms are the Nivea Lip Care balms as they leave your lips feeling silky smooth. If tinted lip balms aren’t your thing, regular lip balms are still great for everyday use. My current favourite is the Ted Baker White Lip Balm. It smells so gorgeous and tastes like cake, what’s not to love?

I’m always amazed at how much makeup it takes to achieve the no makeup look! I use the same things for that look. Great post!

Haha I know, you might as well go all out but sometimes it is nice to not look as though you’re wearing as much. Thank you!

You look great in your “no-makeup” look! I ALWAYS have to do my brows (super thin), and the circles under my eyes! I need to remember tinted lip balm, though! Great suggestions!

My ‘no makeup’ makeup look is all I wear these days due to lack of time in the morning. Unlike you though, if I have to choose between bronzer and blush, I will usually go for the blush as I look lifeless without it.
Great post! Thanks for sharing!

You look so good! I’m always amazed at how much make up I use to look like I’m not wearing any. However, when I don’t wear any, people ask if I am sick.

Thank you so much! Haha yeah, a lot of effort actually goes into a minimal makeup look. Oh yeah, I get that too which is kind of annoying.

I love this look. If I want a minimal makeup look, I wear bronzer, a light blush, a neutral shadow, & gloss. My skin has been giving me issues the last few months, so I usually wear NYX’s new foundation. I haven’t tried Charlotte Tilbury, but I hear her products are amazing & worth the money.
