My Morning Routine

Having a good morning routine can help you feel more awake and more prepared for the day. I am not a morning person at all but I find that when I make the effort I feel a lot better. I also find that getting things ready the night before such as packing your bag and choosing your outfit can save a lot of time in the morning. When starting a morning routine, you should go with what works for you and what will get you prepared for the day ahead. Here is my morning routine:

  1. Waking up (obviously)

I know it can be soooo tempting to snooze your alarm, especially as the mornings are getting darker and colder. iOS 10 actually lets you set an alarm for when you want to sleep and what time you want to get up so that you make sure you get enough hours sleep. This motivates me to go to sleep on time as I know I will feel a lot better for it in the morning.

  1. Eat breakfast and drink tea

Eating usually motivates me to get out of bed. I usually have granola but if it’s a really cold morning then I will have porridge to warm me up. I like to have a cup of green tea as well as I find this properly wakes me up. You all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it honestly is. You will feel so much more energised and ready for the day after eating a nutritious meal.

  1. Shower

Showering is one of my favourite parts of the day. There is nothing better than getting into a hot shower on a cold morning. Before I get into the shower, I brush through my hair so that it isn’t tangled when I wash it. I then proceed to wash my hair and use my Lee Stafford shower comb to comb through the conditioner. I use my Soap & Glory sugar exfoliating scrub as well as the almond shower butter. I absolutely adore Soap & Glory as every single product smells divine. Now I feel clean and ready for the day so I dry myself off and get ready for the next part of my routine

  1. Makeup

I also really enjoy this part of my routine. If you’d like a post about my everyday makeup routine, then let me know in the comments below. I like to add a bit of glitter into my everyday look as well as contouring to make my cheekbones pop. A tip that I always swear by is bronzing your jaw line and under chin to make your face look thinner and get rid of that double chin.

  1. Hair

Before drying my hair, I use Lee Stafford’s moisturising spray and then Tony and Guy’s heat protection spray. This protects my hair as well as making it silky smooth. I then dry my hair and straighten it with my GHD’s. If I have extra time, I will curl my hair. I use Tresemmé Salon Finish hairspray to keep my hair in place and add a bit of extra volume. It’s very windy where I live so I usually end up regretting spending time on my hair.

  1. Get dressed and pack my bag

I can never decide what to wear so I usually check the weather to help me decide. Does anyone else struggle with deciding what to wear everyday? If I know it’s going to be a long day, then I prefer to wear more comfortable clothes. I also make sure that I have books ready for the day, my glasses, laptop, pencil case and a bottle of water. This is usually what I will need to get me through my lectures/meetings/tutorials.

  1. Brush teeth and leave

After making sure that I have everything, I brush my teeth, put my shoes on and grab my coat and scarf. After checking myself in the mirror, I then get my keys and leave for the day.

  1. Sounds like a nice routine 🙂 With two kids my routine tends to vary BUT I try to at least have my coffee (w/ my favorite creamer of course!) That makes my mornings happy. 🙂 By the way, I use the same wordpress theme as you! Fun to see it on someone else’s blog. 🙂

  2. Tea is always a MUST in the morning- I literally can’t start my day without a brew!! Make-up depends on my mood / what I’m doing though- when I start doing it, it’s like I can’t stop and it takes wayyyy too long! Great post lovely, very interesting. X
